Estimate your federal PTET savings.
The NY Pass-Through Entity Tax lets partnership and S-corp owners bypass the federal SALT deduction cap. For eligible entities, this is typically 2 to 4 percent of entity income in federal savings, more with the NYC overlay. This calculator gives a directional estimate using graduated statutory rates.

How we calculate this
How this estimate is calculated
New York State PTET uses graduated rates on PTE taxable income:
- 6.85% on income up to $2 million
- 9.65% on the portion from $2 million to $5 million (plus $137,000 base)
- 10.30% on the portion from $5 million to $25 million (plus $426,500 base)
- 10.90% on the portion above $25 million (plus $2,486,500 base)
NYC PTET applies at 3.876% on the city PTE taxable income attributable to NYC-resident partners (for partnerships, at least one resident partner; for S-corps, all shareholders must be city residents). The base is residence-driven, not source-driven. NYC PTET stacks on top of state PTET.
Federal savings estimate: We assume your full marginal bracket applies to the deduction, which is a simplification. Your actual savings may differ based on AMT, phaseouts, QBI interaction, state credit mechanics, and other factors.
Critical limitations:
- This tool does not account for PTET credit mechanics at the individual level
- Does not model resident vs nonresident partner allocation (the PTE tax base includes all-source income for resident partners, NY-source for nonresidents)
- Does not net out state taxes you could have deducted personally under the current SALT cap, which can overstate the incremental benefit for owners below the cap's income phase-down
- Does not capture coordination with other credits
- Does not reflect any post-2026 rate changes
- Assumes full eligibility for PTET election (not all entities qualify)
